Introduction

In 1995 your Progressive Conservative government revitalized Talossa by putting the vast new technology of the Internet at the country's fingertips. Since then, Talossa's population has more than doubled! But one thing hasn't changed -- the PC is still the party that's writing the success story of the vibrant and democratic Kingdom of Talossa.

Isn't it ironic that Talossa's oldest party put Talossa on the Internet? Not really -- it's in keeping with our heritage as Progressive Conservatives. Inspired by our decade-old commitment to Democracy, Activity, Monarchy and Patriotism, we "Tories" are always looking for (as Darth Vader put it) "new ways to motivate" Talossans to do more for their adopted country.

Welcome to the official homepage of the Progressive Conservative Party of Talossa -- a dynamic, multi-member organization united to keep Talossa free, strong, and fun. This is your introduction to who and what we are -- and it's your invitation to work with us as we build tomorrow's greater Talossa.

You
Need
Allies

Helping to shape Talossa's future is really quite simple. All you've got to do is get involved. And the Progressive Conservative Party welcomes your involvement, because the more involved you become, the more the PC will reflect the beliefs and desires of more Talossans.

How involved can you become?

There is no limit to what you can do with us! There are no boundaries to the influence and contribution you can make. All you need to do is become a member of the Progressive Conservative Party. As a member you can participate in political debates, express your own views, and work towards having those views become part of policy on the provincial or the national level.

After all, the party is simply a reflection of the views of its members. The strength of your beliefs and your ability to arouse support from other members determines the impact your views will have. You'll have constant opportunities to mobilize public opinion and help elect yourself and your fellow Tories into government.

This is what Talossa is all about! But to really get anywhere, and really make a difference, you need allies -- and that's why joining the Tories is the ideal way to do Talossa.

Results...
not Rhetoric

PC 50-Word Statement for 1998:

"Talossa is the place to be--and Progressive Conservative leadership ensures it! Unprecedented immigration, global publicity, steel-hard firmness in dealings with 'bug nations,' peace without concessions, dynamic leadership for dynamic times: This is your PC! You need allies who put Talossans first. For democracy, activity, monarchy, and patriotism: Vote PC!" -- Adopted unanimously by the Progressive Conservative Party, March 1998

Party
Posturing

The PC is a microcosm of Talossa. Tories are everywhere -- and we come from all political persuasions, from liberal to conservative. What unites us all is our common commitment to keeping Talossa free, strong, and fun. We believe in working together in a spirit of pragmatism, according to our four fundamental ideals known unpretentiously since 1985 as "DAMP": Democracy, Activity, Monarchy and Patriotism.

Democracy:

"The only case in which I will ask for the use of military force (do we have one? I should put this on my agenda ;-) will be when someone will try to intimidate someone else on the content of her/his speeches." -- Alberto Manassero (PC)

For years the PC has insisted that in Talossa, responsibility must be spread around and not concentrated in the hands of an active few. This is why we have promoted such innovative ideas as the "Real Cosâ" and making Talossan provinces politically important. But more importantly, it's why the PC has always been a vehicle for new Talossans to realize their political ambitions. New citizens find the PC to be their most effective way of influencing the course of Talossan history.

For example, the PC has always made a point of giving the Prime Minister's office to "the new guy." Why do we take these chances? Because Talossa is yours and theirs as much as it's ours. (And besides, it makes our history a lot more interesting!)

Talossa's form of representative government needs to change to keep up with continuous social change. We strongly supported the the adoption of the 1997 Organic Law, which replaced our clunky and outmoded 1988 Constituziun. We stand for retaining the balance of power: A strong Cort, strong Monarchy, strong Cosâ, strong Prime Minister, and strong Provinces all make for a strong Talossa with places enough for everybody to serve.

We are the only party in Talossa genuinely committed to the freedom of speech enshrined in our laws. We stood alone against efforts to have the courts dictate to our newspapers what they could and could not publish. Remember that when you cast your ballot.

Activity:

"The PC is the party that is always participating, always doing, always thinking, always and ever about and for Talossa." -- John A. Jahn (PC)

Unlike some other political parties, we take a strongly positive approach to the activity of Talossan citizens. For the PC, those aren't just words; they're how we live.

Just look at Talossa's "Bookstore Page" and see how many books have been published by Progressive Conservatives over the years, and you'll get an idea of this party's commitment to Talossa. You need allies like that -- and we will give you the encouragement and the support you need to become such an active and well-informed Talossan citizen!

But what about Talossans who aren't ready for life in the fast lane?

The PC was the only Talossan political party to take a clear and unambiguous stand against the infamous "Pocket Votes Scandal," where elements of the extreme right and extreme left conspired to force certain citizens out of Talossa because they didn't live up to some shadowy definition of 'sufficient' activity. This was as close to genocide as Talossa had yet seen. We Tories stand for the right of Talossans to be as active as they choose, and in the way they choose. Wherever light is needed in the dark corners of sinister cover-ups, we will be there to provide it.

Monarchy:

"Upon taking over as PM I decided that my first priority -- my paramount priority -- would be to restore the political health of the Kingdom. My preferred mechanism for accomplishing this feat was to drastically increase the level of immigration. Towards this end, my government and the King decided to make use of any and all means possible. Hence Talossa's eruption onto the Internet." -- Geoff Toumayan (PC)

The PC supports our Head of State, HRM King Robert I and the House and Dynasty of Madison. Thanks in large part to the King, Talossa is enjoying an era of unprecedented growth and success. Will we maintain continuity with our past through our Monarch, or will Talossa become just another "micronation"? Laws and policies can't answer this question -- it's one of leadership. The PC trusts King Robert to use his veto and dissolution powers when the survival of Talossa's historic vision is at stake. To chip away at the Monarchy is to move Talossa one step closer to being a "virtual reality game" instead of the Nation we love.

Patriotism:

"If you love your country's people, you are a progressive. If you love your country, you are a conservative. Vote Progressive Conservative." -- R. Ben Madison (PC)

Patriotism in Talossa can be simply defined: "Talossa must continue." The members and supporters of the PC see Talossa as much, much more than a game or a club -- Talossa is a unique community that is more like a real country than like anything else on earth. And the PC is committed to keeping Talossa free, strong, and fun by combining time-honoured unique Talossan traditions with innovative new solutions to new problems -- solutions arrived at in an open spirit of dialogue and pragmatism. Only the PC, with its nationwide base of committed and knowledgeable citizens representing every major ethnic group (both Old Growth and Cybercit), can successfully represent the whole nation in these matters.

For years our message on patriotism has been the same: in its politics and iconography Talossa must resemble other countries and "do what other countries do," as best we can, because only this way can Talossa live out its ancient dream of being an independent, sovereign nation in North America.

Membership

Talossan citizens and prospective citizens are encouraged to join the PC. If you want to belong to a patriotic national movement full of different perspectives and ideas, then this is your home. All you need to do is send a message to the Party Secretary explaining who you are and what your current citizenship status is.

Members of the PC represent Talossa's online and unplugged community alike -- as befits a party that seeks to represent all Talossans. Members and supporters of the PC live and work in virtually every province of Talossa, as well as Canada, Italy, and all across the United States.

Current members and supporters of the Progressive Conservative Party are active members of the Talossan Government as well as of Provincial governments and a variety of private organizations. Here are some of the Talossans who want to be on your side:

Chris Gruber

Christopher C. Gruber (PC Party Candidate for Prime Minister). One of Talossa's newest citizens--and fastest-rising stars--Chris Gruber hails from Tallahassee, Florida, where he works as a radio news announcer. He's married, and is one of the few Talossans to actually have successfully produced any offspring. Chris joined Talossa in the early part of 1998 and immediately set to work on creating an online journal for Talossan culture, called Vénéneux, and an official home page for Talossa's planned summertime bash, TalossaFest '98 (which he plans to attend, all the way from Florida!) Chris has proven himself to be a moderate with a vision of Talossa interacting with micronations that respect our sovereignty and our heritage, while standing up to "Penguinea" and other more fringe developments in the hobby of micronationalism. Articulate, friendly, and willing to work with people he disagrees with to achieve consensus where consensus is possible--but neither frustrated nor paranoid when none is possible--Gruber will make a fine Prime Minister!

Wes Erni

Weston J. Erni (PC Party President): Governor of Pengöpäts (The Talossan Antarctic Territory), citizen of Vuode Province. Wes is one of Talossa's oldest and most distinguished citizens, having joined the RT back in 1985. Wes served two terms as Prime Minister of Talossa, once as the leader of the Black Hand party in 1986-87, and again as leader of the Progressive Conservatives in 1990-91. He served as a Justice of the Uppermost Cort of Talossa throughout most of the 1990's. Wes brings a number of talents to Talossa, the most notable being his worship of the country's unofficial national entertainer, Gloria Estefan. Erni's approach to Talossa is most concerned with keeping a good sense of humour about the whole thing, and preventing Talossa from crusting over in its own political bickering. Wes works as a world-renowned professional bridge
